Its great to find an authentic place, serving real pho. There are other places in and around the Charleston area that serve just chicken bullion in some sort herbal broth, that tries to pass as pho... This pace is the real deal and they don't try to rip you off because there are so few real Vietnamese places in the area.

Authentic quality food at reasonable prices! FINALLY!
I HAVE HAD SO MUCH TROUBLE FINDING A LOCAL SIT DOWN CHINESE PLACE IN CHARLESTON.
I was delighted to find a Pho/Chinese place with yummy food and great customer service.
The decor leaves a tiny bit to be desired. If I could leave 1/2 stars they'd be a 4.5!

It was a cold day in Charleston, so pho seemed like a fitting meal. Although, we usually do not eat pho in restaurants because I normally make it at home, we hadn't had a chance to do our weekly grocery run and wanted pho at that very moment. It's extremely hard for my husband to ever be impressed with pho made elsewhere (other than at home), so I was hoping Pho Saigon would be a good backup for us.

We walked in to find a moderately crowded restaurant, so we were hoping the decent crowd would directly translate to a decent meal.

I ordered Cha Gio Thit (Chicken Egg Rolls) for starters. Pho Nam Bo Vien (Rare Beef Slices and Beef Meatballs), and my husband ordered Pho Tai Bo Vien (Fatty Flank and Beef Meatballs).

It took quite some time for us to get our food. We waited so long for our appetizers that I simply thought they had forgotten we had placed an order for appetizers. After 20 minutes, our egg rolls finally arrived at our table. The pho came out about 10 minutes later.

The egg rolls were fried perfectly and were not bad for chicken egg rolls, but I was hoping for more texture inside the roll. I don't think I've ever had a chicken egg roll and would much rather have it made the traditional way with ground pork (rather than ground chicken). The fish sauce was well-made and well-seasoned.

The broth was not terrible but lacked the aroma and depth that would be present in a well-made broth. The meatballs had a texture of a patty or cha (Vietnamese pork roll) and lacked the texture of a traditional Vietnamese beef meatball. Overall, the pho was edible but not memorable.

We are still on the search for a good backup to my homemade pho. Unfortunately, Pho Saigon was a slight miss for us.

Wish I could give them zero. We ordered vermicelli bowls. And the menu didn't state there were peanuts with the dish. We told the server that one of us is allergic. And we would need a new one. He proceeded to tell us to pick it out and eat it because we didn't tell him beforehand . So we had to explain that it's an allergy. And our friend could die. He proceeded to talk over us and say all vermicelli comes with peanuts and that we should've told him before. Where does it say that?it says garnish. Do not waste your time here. The pork vermicelli is over seasoned and was very salty. The pad Thai... isn't pad Thai. It's tasted like vinegar noodles. We also ordered lemon grass beef. Looks and tastes just like beef and broccoli. The pho bowls are misleading. The bowls are large size bowls and only a few bites of noodles.

Definitely our new pho spot in Charleston- hard to find a place with good broth but this place hits the spot. Nothing fancy but if you're craving reasonably priced pho that is guaranteed to satisfy - this is the place. Pretty good spring and summer rolls too.
